What loft conversions involves

A loft conversion adds a bedroom and often a bathroom without losing a square metre of garden, and it is consistently one of the strongest value adding improvements to an Essex or East London property.

Because we are roofers first, the part most conversions get wrong is the part we control best. Structure, dormer construction, weathering, insulation and ventilation are all handled in house rather than subcontracted out.

What you get

  • Rear dormer, hip to gable and rooflight conversions
  • Structural steels and floor joists installed by our team
  • Dormer cheeks, roof and weathering completed in house
  • Building regulations compliant insulation and ventilation

That includes Epping, Theydon Bois, Loughton, Chigwell, Waltham Abbey, Harlow, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Bishops Stortford, Woodford, Wanstead, Enfield, Cheshunt, Hoddesdon, Ware and Saffron Walden, among others.

Do I need planning permission for a loft conversion?

Many rear dormer conversions fall under permitted development. Front dormers, conservation areas, listed buildings and flats do not. Building regulations approval is always required. We guide you through both.

How long does a loft conversion take?

A straightforward rear dormer conversion is usually eight to twelve weeks from scaffold to handover, depending on specification and approvals.

Will my loft convert?

The usual test is at least 2.2 metres of head height at the ridge. If you are short of that, a dormer or roof raise can still make it work. We measure and tell you honestly.

  • Amazing young kind guys, needed my roof done. I asked 5 other people and not only did these guys give the best price but they did such a clean job. Kept their promise, came on time, did the job, cleaned around and left. Amazing lads.
